Overview
A Sand Book, by Vanessa Stars, is a must-read for all book lovers. It is a story about a girl named Lily who loves to read, but her mother tells her that she can only read one book a day. However, one day, while looking for a book to read in the library, she finds a dusty old book called A Sand Book. Inside, she discovers that the pages are filled with sand instead of words. Intrigued, Lily begins to read the sand and soon realizes that the sand is telling her a story.

The plot
The story jumps back and forth in time, but it is basically the story of a sand sculptor, Thomas, who has lost his wife and young daughter in a tragic car accident. Heartbroken, he moves to Key West, Florida, where he tries to forget his sorrows by working on massive sand sculptures. While there, he meets a woman named Allison, who is also grieving the loss of her husband. The two form a bond over their shared love of books and slowly fall in love with each other. However, just as they are about to get married, Allison is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The remainder of the book follows their struggle to come to terms with her impending death.
The Sand Book is an absolutely beautiful novel. It is sad, but ultimately uplifting, and the characters are so real and well-developed that you can’t help but fall in love with them. The prose is gorgeous and lyrical, and the descriptions of the sand sculptures are so vivid that you can almost see them in your mind’s eye. I cannot recommend this book highly enough – it truly is a must-read for all book lovers.

Reviewers love it when an author creates characters that come alive on the page and stay with the reader long after the book is closed. Sand does not disappoint in this regard. The ending of The Sand Book by Tonya Hurley was absolutely amazing. I didn’t see it coming at all! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say that the ending is both sad andhappy. It’s a bittersweet ending that will stay with you long after you finish the book.
What I liked
A Sand Book by Tatyana Tolstaya is a collection of short stories that are all connected by the sand that Tolstaya so lovingly writes about. The sand is a metaphor for life itself, and Tolstaya does an excellent job of exploring the different ways in which we experience it.
The first story, “The Black Square”, was my favorite. It’s about a man who is trying to find the perfect black square to paint on his canvas. He tries different shades of black and different types of sand, but he can’t seem to find the right combination. The story is a beautiful exploration of the creative process and the way that we can become frustrated when we can’t find the perfect solution to our problems.
I also loved “The Last Island”, which is about a group of people who are stranded on an island after their ship sinks. They are forced to deal with their own mortality and the inevitability of death. This story is especially poignant in today’s world, where we are constantly bombarded with news of death and destruction. It makes us realize how precious life is and how we should appreciate every moment that we have.
“A Sand Book” is a beautifully written collection of stories that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it. I highly recommend it to all book lovers!

There were a few things I didn’t like about the book. First, the author’s writing style was a bit choppy for my taste. Second, the book wasn’t as well-organized as I would have liked. Third, the ending was a bit too abrupt for my liking.
